The reverse of the coin portrays the Commonwealth Coat of Arms, accompanied by the words AUSTRALIAN and CITIZENSHIP, and year-date. The Coat of Arms consists of the badges of six States of the Commonwealth on a shield enclosed by an ermine border signifying Australian Federation in 1901. The crest of the Arms, including a seven-pointed star, appears above the shield is supported by a kangaroo and an emu standing on a grassy mound accompanied by small branches of golden wattle. A seven-point gold Commonwealth Star sits above the shield. Six of the star’s points represent the Australian states and the seventh point represents the territories. The P mint mark of the Perth Mint is to the right. In the background, floral decoration and a ribbon below the shield inscribed AUSTRALIA.
