The reverse of the coin depicts a stylized map of Australia on which the inscription AUSTRALIA'S VOLUNTEERS is incuse "Australia's Volunteers" surrounded by the legend "Making a Difference" around above, the denomination 1 DOLLAR around below. The map of Australia on the proof version of the coin is applied (the national colors of Australia) green and gold(represents the golden wattle ) ink via a pad printing process rather than struck onto the surface of the coin.
