On the reverse, the design presents a beautifully engraved Airco DH9 aircraft: a biplane with open cockpit, wooden struts, and detailed wing bracing superimposed over a compass with engraving inscriptions include "AIRCO DH9" around above and piloted by Lieutenant Ray Parer, and co-pilot Lieutenant John Cowe McIntosh around below. Surrounding inscriptions identify the name of the series "THE GREAT AIR RACE 1919 ENGLAND TO AUSTRALIA." The designer’s initials (SMS) are around right.
