AUSTRALIAN SPOTTED EAGLE RAY

Description:
The reverse side of the coin features a depiction of a spotted eagle ray in motion. The rays' large fins are shown curved upward, giving it a wing-like look as it glides through the ocean. These fins are actually strong pectoral muscles attached to the sides of the rays head, allowing for its smooth swimming. Along one of the wings (the one where you can see the upper side), numerous dots are visible to show the white spots on this magnificent creature. Below the swimming ray, the inscription says "Australian Spotted Eagle Ray." A "P" is stamped at the base of the coin as well for The Perth Mint and "NM" is inscribed on the top left tip of the wing the designer's initials.
