The coin’s reverse portrays Ludwig Leichhardt and a line superimposed on a map of north-east Australia indicating the route of his most famous expedition to Port Essington on the Coburg Peninsula. Along with The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ Mintmark, along with the inscription "LUDWIG LEICHHARDT" vertically, dates year of birth and of death dividing by portrait "1813 - 1848" and the designer's initials (WR) below at the bottom. The metal, weight and purity "2oz 999 SILVER" right below.
