6th crowned portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II facing right (the Commonwealth effigy), wearing the George IV State Diadem, the Coronation Necklace and Earrings framed by inscriptions “ELIZABETH II,” “AUSTRALIA,” and the face value “1 DOLLAR.”

Description:
The reverse of the coin features a depiction of the artistic representation overhead view of the Super Pit, portrays a Komatsu excavator in the Super Pit open cast mine, and a headframe, or winding tower, such as the one used at the nearby Mt Charlotte Underground Mine. Engravings on this face of the coin identify the name of the series "SUPER PIT AUSTRALIA" around above, the year of issue, weight, purity, and metal content are inscribed close to the bottom rim. In the left field, The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark appears and the the designer's initials (LB) are also incorporated below the excavator cab on the right.
