Description:
The Perth Mint’s Australia Sovereign is a modern tribute to Australia’s first gold sovereign, which was the first coin to be produced at The Sydney Mint in 1855 and has the same specifications as British Sovereigns and is made from solid 22-carat (.917) gold with a proof finish.. The coins' reverse emulates a Sydney Mint sovereign design (features AUSTRALIA” central below platinum plated St. Edward's crown, laurel wreath branches surround either side joined at the bottom by a knotted bow). Additional inscriptions read "PERTH MINT" around above and the denomination "SOVEREIGN" around below. In celebration of the Platinum Jubilee of H.M. Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the throne in 2022, the coin also bears an encircled privy mark ‘70’.
