The reverse features a finely detailed depiction of a mouse shown between various stalks of wheat. The mouse stands on its hind legs as it reaches up a wheat stalk with its front paws, upright pose, with its body slightly turned and tail elegantly along. The animal’s fur is rendered with sharp engraved lines that contrast beautifully against the background along with the Chinese character (鼠) for "Mouse " above the mouse, the inscription “Year of the Mouse ” is placed along the rim, and the Perth Mint “P” mintmark is also inscribed on the left of the coin. The designer's initials "IJ" in tiny letters below right.
